Patient Dies In Kwara After Striking Workers Switch Off Ventilator

A patient at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Kwara State has died following an industrial action embarked upon by health workers amidst the coronavirus disease. Acc ording to channel news: The victim was said to have died after the aggrieved workers switched off the oxygen. A friend of the deceased, Ezekiel Adewole, said the unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday. Adewole explained that the patient died before being evacuated to another hospital for medical attention. The wards of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara State.   “He was referred to UITH, Ilorin for treatment. He has been undergoing this treatment for a while. He had difficulty in breathing, that is the only issue he had. “He was okay, very active online. He was always on online – WhatsApp, Twitter and all others. A 19-year-old boy who was shot by a police officer for impregnating a girl, according to doctors ,the young man may lose the leg to amputation. According to Kote, the father of the victim, He was in his compound in K. Dere community in Gokana local government area of Rivers State on Friday, August 21, 2020, around 7am, when a Sienna drove into his compound with about four armed police men. “They went straight to my son’s room door and were banging and cocking guns. I approached them to inquire from them what my son did wrong that they were looking for him, but none of them answered me. It was one of them who angrily told me that my son impregnated a girl.” According to the victim’s father, the next thing he heard from the backyard of his house was a gunshot. He said one of the officers shot his son on the leg simply because he impregnated a girl and went away with him, while he was bleeding profusely and hid him in a private hospital. Police Begins Applicants Screening In Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has revealed that the screening of candidates for community policing will begin on August 26, at the command’s headquarters in Enugu.  Nigeria. According to the minister,he had revealed that the federal government was also working and making moves in order to bring a solution and end to the ongoing strike by the ASUU commission before schools re open, as he added that universities in the country would re open for activities very soon.
